This is a pepper relish I like putting on my hamburgers. It is based off of my mother’s pepper relish recipe with some important differences. Mom’s recipe just used green bells. I have a few different peppers in this one as you’ll be able to tell.
Hot Pepper Relish

Serves: 10 pints
Ingredients
- 6 green bell peppers
- 8 red bell peppers
- 3 jalapeno peppers (add more if you'd like)
- 3 serrano peppers (see jalepenos)
- 2 poblano peppers
- 12 red onions
- 4 cups cider vinegar
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons salt
Instructions
- Coarsely chop vegetables
- Use a food grinder with a coarse die and grind vegetables placing in bowl
- Add enough boiling water to cover and let stand 10 minutes
- Drain and place in a large kettle or stock pot
- Add cider vinegar, sugar and salt
- Mix well
- Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer and simmer 20 minutes
- Pour into jars and process as per canning guidelines
