Brines Turkey

My Turkey Brine

My Turkey Brine
Recipe type: Brine or Marinade
Cuisine: American
I found a way to make turkey actually taste good.
  • Head of Garlic with top cut off
  • 3 Bay Leaves
  • ⅓ cup of pickling spices (yes Bay Leaves and Pickling spice)
  • ¼ cup of Apple Cider vineagar
  • 1 Gallon Apple Cider
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 cups Brown Sugar
  • 2 Oranges Sliced
  • 2 Lemons Sliced
  • 5 lbs of ice
  1. Pour the cider into a large pot and bring to a boil
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients other than the ice
  3. Boil until salt and sugar have been absorbed by the cider
  4. Turn the heat off and add ice to bring the temperature of the brine below 60F
  5. Place your turkey (or whatever) into a container large enough to contain both the bird and the brine.
  6. Keep turkey submerged by placing a plate and some weight over it (I use a couple of cleaned bricks wrapped in plastic wrap)
  7. Brine for three days
